The Artists
Although this isn’t their first time here, it’s been a while, so I think it’s good to give a little background on the people behind the music. The Polk Duo (TPD as I like to call them) is composed of married couple Kasey and Myranda Polk. With Kasey’s true gift of guitar in combination with Myranda’s strong Christian vocals, The Polk Duo was destine to happen. They met while in the university jazz band. That university being North Caroline A&T. Here they both received degrees in music which solidifies their path to pursuing careers as musicians, educators, writers, and producers. The Music
Compared their last body of work, ‘Wonderful’ is truly an evolution in both talent and passion. I can honestly say this project takes everything we have heard for them in the past to a new level. The thing that jumped out at me the most was the production. The musicality and variety throughout the project is a definite treat. It is a true fusion of genres. Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop and more. It makes the music feel familiar and welcoming while at the same time you can feel TPD developing a sound that is uniquely their’s. Once again Kasey’s musicianship is on full display. Each beat fits like a glove alongside the power and emotion of the lyrics. This brings me to the vocals. Myranda shows true depth throughout this project. She even graces us with a few bars. The lyrics are written in a way the gives a positive Christian feel without being overly “preachy”, for lack of a better word. Sometimes Gospel music can beat you over the head and make it hard for those who may not be as involved in church to connect. However this is not the case here. Every song is written in a way that makes you feel like you can relate. Just another person trying to making it through life who may need a little help from above to deal with struggles, insecurities, and everything else that can be thrown at you. It is a breathe of fresh air to hear “Gospel Music” the strays away from the standard formula. Standout Tracks

Overall ‘Wonderful’ is a truly great project, but don’t take our word for it. The album is available on iTunes, Amazon, BandCamp, Google Play, and really anywhere music is sold. There are also physical copies available for order on their website www.thepolkduo.com or at any of the live performances.
