On January 14, 2019, the Clemson Tigers were invited to the White House in celebration of their National Football Championship. This is the second time they have been invited to the White House for their superb athleticism. Unfortunately, their visit is making headlines and in an unusual way.
The president, who shall remain nameless, instead of having a nice meal prepared for the team of champions opted to instead serve these athletes a mix burgers, french fries and pizza. He then referred to it as a good American feast. Personally, if this is America, I want no parts. America is already seen as a gluttonous, lazy nation and it is clear that the president is making no strides to dispel this notion. This appalling gesture was further amplified by the president’s irrational and boastful comments.
“The reason we did this is because of the shutdown. We want to make sure that everything is right, so we sent out, we got this.” He also went on to use this opportunity to take jabs at the democrats and remind everyone that he paid for this meal with his own money. However, presidency aside, we do know that this man is worth 3.1 billion dollars, right? Therefore, this meal is the equivalent of pocket change.
Obama could never and Obama would never. He has more class. I’m sure you all remember the “Let’s Move” campaign during the Obama era that aimed to encourage people to get active and eat healthier. That period of positivity within the White House has clearly passed. Last time I checked, my celebratory meals don’t happen at McDonald’s, Wendy’s or Pizza Hut. They happen at restaurants that require you to dress for the occasion. This meal is equivalent to the after the club meal you eat when nothing else is open at 2:30AM.
Since the 14th, many have hopped on the band wagon to troll the situation and some have even offered to show the Clemson Tigers a real meal.
After a recent typo riddled tweet from your “oh so humble” president, Burger King even hopped on the joke train. What exactly is a “hamberder”? Apparently, it’s something new to us and Burger King.
Celebrities have also been opting to pay for a real meal for the Tigers. What are your thoughts? Would you have happily eaten this meal?
