Imani Blair | The Richmond Rap Queen

Imani Blair – If you don’t know her name, you will soon.  This female MC hails from Richmond, VA and is no stranger to performing or rocking the MIC.  She has opened for names like Trey Songz, Toni Braxton and even Chris Brown.

Imani started doing music at the tender age of 9 years old.  She was even featured on Showtime At The Apollo.  With a degree in Audio Engineering under her belt this rap queen brings beauty, brains and bars to the table.

Though Imani took a slight break from music, she is back in Richmond and ready to take the music world by storm.   Her music is more than entertainment, with her latest song “Shoot Em”, Imani delivers a powerful narrative about women of color being abducted at alarming rates.  If you haven’t already done so, take a listen to the song here, and catch the cinematic video here.

If you’re looking to get more into Imani’s music make sure you check her out on your favorite streaming platform and listen to songs like “Lena the Plug”, “Heels On” or “June 1”.

“Lena the Plug” was one song that stuck out to me.  It was inspired by a popular Youtuber known as “Lena The Plug”. Lena is not only a cam girl but regularly posts content about sex toys, vibrators, pornstars, her interesting life and living with confidence.  In a nutshell, she lives  her best life on a regular without care of the world’s judgement.

Imani also regularly drops Freestyle Friday videos on her Facebook where she raps over popular beats.  If you are looking to get into her impromptu bars and energetic personality make sure you check them out ASAP.

Be on the lookout because Imani’s music will be coming to HLX Radio soon.  Mark my words, you’ll be hearing more from this queen.

About the author
Growing up on the South Side of Chicago I was taught at a young age how to hustle, be independent and resilient. Since a mere child, I have always been one to guide my own destiny. After spending my high schools years at Jones College Prep, a magnet school in downtown Chicago, I went on to receive 8 full ride scholarships to various universities around the country, something I never would have expected. Ultimately, I made a wonderful decision in choosing my college home at the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University. Aside from mastering the art of the 'turn up', college taught me so much more. However, this didn’t just include the ins and outs of Computer Science. College gave me a window to various styles, personalities and looks. This is where my passion for media, radio, art and imagery flourished. Ayye Denay offers viewers a wide range of content but generally centers everything back on music. You can check her out on Youtube, on her own site AyyeDenay.com and somewhere working on content for her black centric media company.
