I’m sure you all remember Davy Jones. If not, allow me to jog your memory. He was one half of the RVA group Kleos and Davy, also referred to as the Last of The Greats (LOTG). Along with a number of singles and freestyle tracks they, produced two full length projects entitled ‘Braille Music’ and ‘The Nerd and the New Guy’, both of which will be linked below. Recently we haven’t heard much from Mr. Jones, but it looks like that may soon change!
The artist now goes by the name Are Om. With this persona, it is very possible we will see a complete style change from the rapper. It will be interesting to see what other surprises may come along with the name change. Via social media, he has announced that he is working on a new solo album. As far as the album goes, there isn’t much information available yet but here is what we do know. The title of the project is ‘Krypton’ and we have reason to believe ‘Krypton’ will not have any features.
In the short Instagram clip above, you hear him say, “The name is Are Om, salutations from Earth 23.” For those who may not know, Earth 23 is a reference to a DC Comics story where not only is Superman black, but he is also the President of the United States. With that, I think it’s safe to say that the bar has been set fairly high. Looks like 2015 is starting out with a lot of potential.
