Super Bowl XLIX Is Coming!

Welcome HLX Reader to My Second Sports Article of 2015!

My First Article Covered the CFB Championship Game Where Unfortunately Despite My Better Judgement I Predicted the Oregon Ducks Defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes Destroyed the Ducks With a 42 to 20 Victory, Bringing the State of Ohio Their First Championship (in Any Sport) in Nearly 50 Years.

In Professional Football the Super Bowl is Just Around the Corner. Super Bowl XLIX Will Be Sunday, February 1, 6:30 PM on NBC at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ. This Game Will Be an Epic Battle of Defense Versus Offense as The Seattle Seahawks Will Try to Repeat Last Years Success With Another Championship. The Last Team to Go Back to Back Winning Championships Will Be Their Opponents in This Years Game; the New England Patriots.

There is A Lot of Controversy Surrounding the Patriots This Year Regarding Their Use of Deflating Footballs in Their Previous Game Against the Indianapolis Colts. New England Coach Bill Belichick Denies Any Foul play But Many Skeptics Suspect Otherwise. The New England Patriots Have a Bad Reputation of Dwelling in the Gray Area of the NFL Rulebook. Back in 2007 Bill Belichick Received the Largest Fine in the NFL’s 87 Year History of $500,000 for Videotaping the New York Jets Defensive Coach’s Game Signals. The New England Patriots Were Also Fined $250,000 and Docked Their First Round Selection for the Draft in 2008.

The Seattle Seahawks Are Also Going Through Their Own Troubles With an Elbow Injury to Their Star Cornerback Richard Sherman, His Availability is Still Somewhat Unknown. Sherman Says He Should Be 100% and Ready to Go as Long as He Gets the Rests He Needs.

The Numbers

The New England Patriots 12-4 Season Record
QB Tom Brady 4109Yards 33TDs 9INTS
RB Jonas Gray 412Yards 4.6Avg 5TDS
29.2 Points Per Game (19.6 Allowed)  44.3% 3rd Down Conversion (40.2% Allowed)

The Seattle Seahawks 12-4 Season Record
QB Russell Wilson 3475Yards 20TDS 7INTS
RB Marshawn Lynch 1306Yards 4.7Yards 13TDS
24.6 Points Per Game (15.9 Allowed) 42.5% 3rd Down Conversion (37.1% Allowed)

Yeah, Thats Right. On Paper These Teams Look Very Similar Which Should Make It a Very Close & Exciting Game. In Any Major Sports Game The Better Defensively Focused Team Usually Wins (and Given the Seahawks Have Yet to Allow a 4Qtr Point in the Postseason) I Say We’ll See Out First Repeat NFL Champions Since the Patriots (O4- 05 Season).
